| In our last article, I talked about how to select keywords to draw the right people to your site. Now
you can start placing those words and phrases on
your web pages, but you still need to know how to
do it effectively. |

| Stay Away From Flash |
| You have probably encountered websites with impressive animated graphic displays and you may already be familiar with Flash, the program that makes it all possible. Unfortunately, there are two very good
reasons not to use Flash on your front page or to
convey your message (especially your keywords). |
| |
| 1 - Many people looking for information on a website are annoyed by Flash animations. If they have an older browser or a computer with limited memory, your Flash pages may never finish loading or may lock up their computer. People don’t like to wait for Flash introductions, that’s why so many websites have the option of skipping the intro. |
| |
| Unless you are a visual or sound artist, or are trying to provide some kind of multimedia entertainment experience to your visitors, Flash can be a real waste of their time. |

|
| If you’re a business that ultimately needs to make sales from your site, the last thing you want to do is make the customer jump through hoops to get to the checkout. As internationally renowned web design author Steve Krug puts it, “Don’t Make Me Think.” |
| |
| 2 - The search engines can’t read text embedded in Flash. You can create the coolest looking interactive web experience, loaded with all your keywords flying across the screen; but Google, Yahoo, MSN, and the Open Directory Project may see nothing! |
