Now where did I put that file? - Part 2 (Cont.)

Take back control of your files
I think the “My…” system for storing files is a handy tool for people who just use their PCs for web surfing and entertainment. But I’m not a big fan of letting Microsoft applications decide where I should store my files, and I think serious users should take control of their files by following their own rules for storing them.

If you really like the “My…” system, you should at least consider creating some categories & sub-folders within your My Documents folder & subfolders, so finding your files will be easier down the road.

Coming Up...
So far in this series we've talked about where to put your files... but how do you choose good names for your files? Good file names will make your data both easy to identify and easy to find. We’ll explore this in the part 3 of this series, “What’s in a Name?”
